War Emblem

This Project began trying to incorporate the basics of a war emblem; a weapon, an animal, a crest and a battle cry. With a lot of different possibilities in mind, trying to subtly combine the core elements together in an interesting way became difficult. After realizing that it was not vital to force so many elements into the piece it was easier to solidify one theme.

The American themed first image text is from the Star Spangled Banner. Less common, the verse was chosen from the original song before it was adapted as the National Anthem.

The second image represents Mexico and it's text translated from Mexico's National Anthem

The quote in the third image is from the Poem "In Flanders Fields" by Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, written during World War I, after he witnessed the gruesome death of his friend. The poem is part of Remembrance Day ceremonies in Canada and Allied countries which contributed troops to WWI.
